In a recent analysis by Liverpool's on-field reporter, Lewis Steele, it has been noted that this encounter marked the first time since September 2023, when Van Dijk was absent due to a suspension in the away match against Wolves, that the Dutch defender has missed an "impactful match" in the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League—those games where the team had not yet secured a spot in the knockout stages or won the title.
