The legal representative for Montana argued that the central allegation revolves around a physician who, armed with a fraudulent DEA registration number and NPI number, prescribed medication. Subsequently, the individual in question obtained the prescription and filled it at a pharmacy. The charge of possessing narcotics stems from her acquisition and retention of the drug.
